To visit a location so special is a little different to taking a weekend city break. Here we answer some of the most common questions we’re asked by first-time visitors.
How do I get from Providenciales to Blue Horizon Resort?
Prior to your trip, visit the Caribbean Cruisin’ website for the ferry schedule and reservation form. Make a reservation for your departure and return trips. Be mindful of your arrival time on Providenciales, travel time to the marina, and the departure time of the last ferry to North Caicos. You may have to spend a night on Providenciales depending on your arrival time. The ferry costs $50.00 per person for each round trip ticket.
At Providenciales airport (PLS), take a taxi to Walkin Marina. (Estimated cost $25 per person.) Look for the yellow building housing the ferry office. Purchase tickets. The trip from Providenciales to North Caicos takes about 35 minutes.
On North Caicos, at Sandy Point Marina, meet your rental car ($75-$85 per day), or a taxi (est. $40 per person.) Arrange for your taxi (M&M Taxi 649-231-6285 firstname.lastname@example.org) or rental car in advance of your arrival. You can find several rental car agencies online.
The trip to Blue Horizon Resort from North Caicos takes approximately 45 minutes.
Can I rent a car while visiting Middle Caicos?
Yes. There are several rental car companies on North Caicos. You’ll find information in Where, When, How and in Amy’s Ultimate Guide to Middle Caicos and on TripAdvisor. Alternatively, we can arrange a rental car from a local company. Rates start at $75 per day. You’ll want a car if you plan to visit the other beaches on Middle Caicos, or if you plan on exploring North Caicos. If you’d like to rent a car and have our concierge make arrangements, please let us know in advance so that we can reserve a car for you.
Are there restaurants?
Yes. Mudjin Bar and Grill is our onsite restaurant, a regular Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence winner, offering the most dramatic ocean views in the Turks and Caicos! Enjoy one of our bartenders specialty cocktails while overlooking Mudjin Harbour and Dragon Cay. Our seafood is always fresh and local, and delivered directly from the fishermen to our door. Mudjin Bar and Grill offers lunch daily from 11am – 4pm. Dinner is available by reservation only from Monday – Saturday. Take-away options are also available. Daniel’s Café in Conch Bar, approximately one mile from the resort, is open for lunch and dinner, closed on Monday.
On North Caicos there are several cafes and restaurants. My Dee’s offers in local, American and Italian cuisine. Miss B’s offers seafood and local dishes. Last Chance Bar and Grill in Bottle Creek offers American and seafood dishes. The Silver Palm and Barracuda Beach Bar in Whitby are open seasonally and reservations are recommended.
If you’d like to make dinner reservations for Mudjin Bar and Grill during your stay, especially for the evening of your arrival, please let us know in advance so that we can reserve a table for you.
Is there internet access?
Yes. We have a wireless network on the grounds.
Do you have air conditioning?
Yes. All cottages and villas are equipped with Air Conditioning.
What should I pack?
Dress is casual and comfortable – shorts, t-shirts and bathing suits for a typical day. You’ll want to have ample and adequate SPF sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, sturdy shoes (especially if you plan on hiking or biking), mosquito/no see-um repellant, basic personal care items and toiletries such as shampoo. There is no grocery, pharmacy or store on the island. Don’t forget a camera so that you can capture some of the most beautiful scenery you will ever see above and below the water. Take plenty of cash in smaller denominations, as there is no ATM on Middle Caicos, and some excursion providers do not accept credit cards.
What type of equipment is available?
We have beach chairs, beach towels, coolers and BBQ grills available for guest use at no charge on a first come, first served basis. A variety of games, dominos, a poker set and books are also available in the main clubhouse.
Hobie Mirage Kayaks (single and tandem hands free kayaks using pedals) are available for rent to guests for $35 per person up to 4 hours, $60 per person up to 8 hours. Includes transportation to and from the dock. You can fish from the kayaks or explore the mangroves and kayak to Sand Dollar Beach, an isolated and likely deserted beach. You might even spot a flamingo on your trip. If you’d like to reserve a kayak during your stay, please let us know.
Are there any grocery or liquor stores?
There are 4 small family run grocery stores and a liquor store across the causeway, on North Caicos. Stock varies as does quantity. Many items can be hard to come by, you may not find the brand for which you are looking, and assembling a full list may require trips to several small stores. Bring items from home or shop on Providenciales at one of the grocery stores before you depart for Middle Caicos.
Liquor’s Plus is located on North Caicos in the My Dee’s Mini Mall near the North Caicos airport. You can purchase beer, wine and spirits. Brand availability may be limited. If there’s a brand that you must have, call 649-946-7761 to see if it’s in stock. Visa and Master Card accepted. There are several liquor stores on Providenciales. Mudjin Bar and Grill serves beer, wine and spirits as well as cocktails.
Can I snorkel off the beach?
Yes, weather, wind, waves permitting, you can snorkel from the beach in and around Dragon Cay cove. Our concierge can also arrange for snorkel trips with a local guide or a private boat excursion to some of the best offshore locations. If you’d like to book an excursion during your stay, please let us know in advance so that we can reserve a date for you.
Is there scuba diving?
Scuba diving excursions can be arranged through our concierge services and operate from Provo or North Caicos. If you’d like to book an excursion during your stay, please let us know in advance so that we can reserve a date for you.
Are there medical facilities?
There is a nurse on Middle Caicos, a clinic on North Caicos and full medical facilities on Providenciales. There is no pharmacy or drug store on the island. It’s a good idea to bring along basic first aid and other personal care items that you wouldn’t want to be without should the need arise.

Where can I find more information about Middle Caicos?
There are many places to visit and several eco and adventure activities. Middle Caicos is home to three communities, three beaches, two caves, a hiking and biking trail, mangroves, flats, flamingo ponds and plantation ruins. North Caicos, across the causeway, hosts plantation ruins, beaches, and farms.
